Hey guys! Been a long time listener going all the way back to PAPN and been here since day 1. Love and have always loved the work you guys do.
I want to start by saying that I am lifelong Nole. It runs in my family and my second and third word were “Go Noles.” So that’s the context here. This lead me on a journey with being absolutely obsessed with college football, it’s a world I lived in 24/7.
I wrote for SB Nation and Sports Illustrated about it before covid killed our SI site and I always dreamed of doing what you guys do. I saw the sport through the same lens as you guys do/did. However, after the 2023 playoff decision leaving the Noles out… something changed. Listen, I get it, okay. This sounds pouty and woe is me blah blah blah. I’m not @ing Herbie on Twitter or screaming about how everything is rigged. But that decision truly broke something in my brain when it comes to the sport.
I was a whole hog fan, I took in everything at all levels and now I can barely watch or listen to anything about it. Trust me I’ve tried so I’m asking genuinely as someone who was the biggest champion for this stupid sport… am I ever getting it back? Will the passion come back? Will my skepticism and negativity ever go away? Or am I officially stuck hating the thing I cared about the most. It’s caused this existential crisis and caused me to only see what’s wrong with college football. It’s not even sour grapes at this point, it’s truly apathy. Any tips?
Love what you guys do! I will always be here and spend my money on your work no matter what I think of the rest of the sport.
1. Tuning into Ohio State vs Miami for my game I watched on tv after learning about the greatness of Miami and Ohio state being the under dog and the NFLs future stars were in this game.
2. Mike Leach. The nfl all looked the same to me. Then I learned about Texas Tech nearly throwing every down and how different that was, then seeing Air Force option, and just how different each team can be.

3. The energy. The nfl energy is so stale.
