I could see this happening for Big Game between the bears and the cardinal. I am a fan of the USC-UCLA home and home combo considering they shared a stadium for the bulk of the latter's existence as a program.
Mississippi State and TAMU should do it for the lulz. Or maybe Oklahoma/Alabama. 🤔
On a more serious note, there could be some cool ones out there if you picked the right alternate jersey color. SC vs Clemson would probably look like butt if it was garnet v orange but black v orange might pop nicely. Kentucky blue v LSU gold?
Agreed 100% on NBA uniforms - alternates are too alternate these days. And the NBA used to be super easy to tell who was home and away!
College football-wise, Oregon and Oregon State absolutely could go color on color for uniforms. Just have to make the away team use their lighter color shade (yellow/orange) as top against the home in darker (green/black).

Florida shouldn’t have any alternate uniforms. Traditional jerseys are great, and many color combos to have a good variety

You're certainly not alone and you may even be right, just saying they have worn gold before and it would look cool against blue.
