I've been out on Purdue football pretty much all season. This could be the third straight year where Purdue basketball wins more NCAA Tournament games than Purdue football wins games in total.
Post-House decision and within the confines of this current 4-year player cycle, how many head coaching jobs will not have had firings-and-hirings? Compressed sample size, yes, but that's to get a good look at the immediacy of NIL effects on the sport and how much rampant shifting there is going on. My guess? All but 10 coaches will be still in their jobs from 2025-26 to 2028-29. And Kirk Ferentz will STILL be coaching and among those ten...with his head floating in a mason jar suspended in bacta formula or some shit.
Of some note, Tulane’s best player and defensive play caller, middle linebacker Sam Howard has been out for the past two games (kind of important against Army and UTSA) and his replacement was one or two steps away from making plays all night at the Alamodome.
Of other note: Tulane’s offensive issues are definitely scheme over personnel: 8 games in and I can’t tell you what the offense’s identity is other than not establishing the run and not due to ability on the field either OL or running backs but simply a lack of proper play calling.
Nebraska, Tennessee, and Houston all losing while wearing black, which is not a school color, is so fitting. Similar to the pants situation. We have to have standards.
Worth noting that Ohio State had a stadium blackout but the team actually wore their standard scarlet jerseys. Surely this is how they were able to avoid the curse.
