Only example of a bowl game-opener doubleheader I can think of: Arkansas and UNLV played in the 2000 Las Vegas Bowl (which also included a brawl!) and then opened the 2001 season in an all-timer of a sloppy game (Nutt put in 4 QBs not named Matt Jones) on a Thursday in Little Rock.
